When dealing with termites there are several options available depending on where they are, if they have an established nest close by, if they’ve already entered your home and the extent of the damage they have done.

Obviously preventing termites coming into your home in the first place is always going to be a better strategy than trying to get rid of an established colony however, sometimes this isn’t always possible.

Below are some of the treatment options that Abolish Termite and Pest Management provide to customers all over the north-side of Brisbane.

Termite Inspections

A termite inspection is always going to be the first port of call for anything to do with termites. This will enable us to come to your home, do a thorough inspection and get an idea of whether or not there’s been recent termite activity.

Our termite inspections take approximately 30-45 mins and we check all the different spots termites are known for entering your home. We check the following areas of your home:-

  • The interior of your home
  • Roof void
  • Subfloor
  • Wall exterior
  • Garage
  • Carport
  • Out building (if applicable)
  • Trees in and around your property
  • Stumps
  • Posts
  • Fences
  • Gardens
  • Timber retaining walls
  • Landscaping timbers

Preventative Termite Control Options

There are two main preventative measure we can take to keep termites away from your home – chemical termite barriers and physical termite barriers. Let’s break both of these down:-

Chemical Termite Barriers

These are barriers that use chemical termiticides in the soil around your home. This stops subterranean termites from entering your home via the soil around your home. You may notice there are little caps or circles of concrete on your patio or on the concrete around your home. These are the holes that are drilled into your concrete and into the ground underneath to allow chemicals to enter the soil.

Physical Termite Barriers

Physical termite barriers come in a variety of different options. There are slab layers that come as termiticide injected plastic sheeting that’s laid into or on concrete slabs. Then there’s plastic collars and pellets that have been impregnated with termiticide.
